U7 to U18 Female Recreation Programs:

Kamloops MHA intends to have female-only recreation teams in all divisions from U9 to U18. The number of females registering for Female teams will determine the number of teams that we have.

Female recreation teams in U11 and above will play within an OMAHA administered league so travel throughout the OMAHA district for league games will be required.

This is a recreational level of hockey consisting of a weekday shared practice with another recreation team, and weekend games. We intend to keep the practice times and days as constant as possible. There will be one home tournament, and teams may attend up to two away tournaments, if the coach and parents/team agree to do so. Each team will have a team budget to offset expenses for the season. Team fees can be up to a maximum of $400 per player to pay for tournaments, apparel, and anything else that the team decides. Teams have the option to fundraise to offset the team fees.

U7 Program (Ages 5-6yrs)

Our U7 program is designed to introduce young players to the foundational skills of hockey in a fun and supportive environment. By focusing on basic skating, puck handling, and teamwork, this program not only builds confidence but also fosters a deep love for the game that will last a lifetime. This league includes regular practices and local gameplay

U9 Program (Ages 7-8 yrs)

The U9 program will place focus on refining skating techniques, stickhandling, and understanding of team play, all while gaining valuable game experience. This league includes regular practices, gameplay, and the exciting opportunity to participate in both local and out-of-town jamborees, providing a well-rounded development experience.

U11 Program (Ages 9-10 yrs)/U13 Program (Ages 11-12yrs)/U15 Program (Ages 13-14yrs)/U18 Program (ages 15-17yrs)

U11-U18 programs will place focus on skill refinement and tactical understanding, and team play. The regular stream for each program will grow through weekly practices, in-town and out-of-town games, and tournaments. Programs will not only foster on-ice success but also promote sportsmanship and teamwork, setting the foundation for future achievement both on and off the ice.

Seasons within the U11-U18 programs will consist of practices once a week in-town, as well as league games. Please note that travel within the Okanagan region is required for approximately 50% of each program’s games to allow teams to play against fellow female teams within the league. Each team will participate in one home tournament and one to two away tournaments.

Note: The U11 Program will also provide an additional opportunity for athletes interested in further competition by means of inclusion upon a tournament-style team where players will gain 1x additional ice practice and the opportunity to play within additional out of town tournaments throughout the regular season - thus, helping to prepare players for the competitive demands of the rep hockey stream in U13, should they choose to follow that path.
